1. About MeowPulse and Dr. Meow
MeowPulse uses AI. Dr. Meow is an AI character, not a person, and not a licensed veterinarian. What MeowPulse tells you is general information, not veterinary advice. Ask a licensed veterinarian for any medical decision about your cat. In an emergency, contact a veterinary emergency service immediately.
MeowPulse is run by [LEGAL_ENTITY_PLACEHOLDER] ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run MeowPulse, how long we keep things, and the choices you have. It covers the MeowPulse app on iPhone and Android and the website meowpulse.app.
The short version:
- We don't sell your data.
- There are no ads in MeowPulse, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't store your cat's recordings. We keep the result.
- We don't use your recordings, chats or cat data to train AI models.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time.
2. What we collect

We don't collect your location, your contacts, your own health data, or an advertising identifier. When you tap "Find a vet", your maps app opens. We don't send it anything about you.
3. How we use it
- To run MeowPulse: translations, Dr. Meow, the Medical Card, check-ins, reports and reminders.
- To make Dr. Meow personal: he reads your cat's profile and history so his answers fit your cat.
- To run the free plan and Pro: counting weekly free uses, and checking your subscription.
- To email you about your account only: a sign-up code, a password reset, a change of email, account deletion. We don't send marketing emails.
- To send the notifications you allowed: Dr. Meow's follow-up reminders and sound pattern alerts. Each notification shows "MeowPulse" and a short line we wrote in advance. The line can name your cat and, for a pattern alert, the kind of sounds we noticed. It never shows what you or Dr. Meow said in a chat. You can hide previews in your phone's settings, or turn notifications off.
- To keep MeowPulse safe and working: fixing crashes, and limiting very heavy use so the service stays up for everyone.
We don't use your recordings, chats or cat data to train AI models. If that ever changes, we will ask you first.
If you live in the EEA or the UK, our legal bases are: our contract with you (to run the features you use), our legitimate interests (security, fixing bugs, improving MeowPulse), your consent (notifications; you can withdraw it any time), and legal obligations.
4. How AI is used
MeowPulse uses Google's Gemini AI. Our server sends it:
- your cat's recording, to translate it and to check that it is a cat;
- your messages to Dr. Meow, with your cat's profile and history, so he can reply;
- check-in answers and trend numbers, to write the Health Overview and reports.
Google processes this to give us the answer. Under the terms we use the Gemini API on, Google doesn't use it to train its models. Google may keep it for a short time under its own terms, for example to detect abuse.
AI can be wrong. Translations are best guesses from sound, which is why they say "Likely". Dr. Meow can make mistakes. He never diagnoses: a condition you haven't confirmed is saved as "Suspected" until you confirm it.
5. Who helps us run MeowPulse
These companies process data for us, only to provide their service to us:

6. Sharing
- We don't sell your personal data, and we don't share it for advertising.
- What you choose to share: a share card goes wherever you send it from your phone's share sheet. A report link lets anyone who has it see that report for 30 days. To stop a link sooner, email us.
- The law: we may disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
- If MeowPulse changes hands: your data may move to the new owner under this policy. We will tell you first.
7. How long we keep it

8. Deleting your account
In the app: Settings, then Delete Account. Your account is scheduled for deletion, and you are logged out on every device. You then have 30 days to change your mind: email {{SUPPORT_EMAIL}}. After 30 days, your account and its data are deleted. Copies in backups are deleted within [BACKUP_RETENTION_DAYS] days after that.
Without the app: email {{SUPPORT_EMAIL}} from the address on your account, with the subject "Delete my account". The steps are also at meowpulse.app/delete-account.
A subscription isn't cancelled by deleting your account. Cancel it in your App Store account settings.
What stays after deletion: a record that an account was deleted (an internal number and counts, no name or email), and technical records about translations (for example, whether a sound passed the cat check and how long it took) with no link to you or your cat.
9. Your rights and choices
- See your data: email us and we'll send you a copy. There is no download button in the app yet.
- Correct it: edit it in the app, or email us.
- Delete it: section 8. You can also delete a cat, or clear Dr. Meow's chats, in the app.
- Notifications: turn them off in your phone's settings.
- Object or withdraw consent: email us. Withdrawing doesn't affect what we did before.
- Complain: if you live in the EEA or the UK, you can complain to your data protection authority.
- California: you have the right to know, delete and correct your data, and not to be treated differently for asking. We don't sell or share personal information as California law defines it.
We answer within 30 days, and may need to check it's really you first.
10. Children
MeowPulse is not for children under 13, or under 16 in the EEA and the UK. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If we learn we have, we delete it. If you think a child is using MeowPulse, email us.
11. Security
Data travels encrypted between the app, our server and our providers. Each account can reach only its own cats, reports and subscription, and we test this. Cat photos work differently. Only you can add your cats' photos, but each photo is stored at a hard-to-guess web address, and anyone who has that address can view the photo. A photo you replace, and the photo of a cat you delete, stay at their addresses until your account is deleted. Our providers encrypt stored data. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise that nothing will ever go wrong, but we work to prevent it and will tell you if your data is affected.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. The effective date at the top shows the current version.
